New Release!
Imagine...you are lying in bed on a Sunday morning, looking forward to a day of solitude, maybe binge-watching Netflix, when an incessant knock at your door forces you to abandon your warm quilt. A delivery service hands you a package, which is strange enough on a Sunday morning. You open it and find an opaque disc and a card inviting you to participate in a focus group starting that very morning.
Of course, you dismiss it as a prank, abandon all hopes of crawling back into bed and make yourself a cup of coffee, when suddenly, the odd-looking disc starts to vibrate and the holographic image of stunningly beautiful woman appears, standing right in front of you, the moderator of the focus group, who announces that the interview will begin in thirty minutes.
What would you do? Would you take the plunge, engage in the focus group or would you decline the invitation?
Finn Baas, a Dutch investigative journalist, driven by an insatiable curiosity, decides to take the leap of faith and accepts the invitation from the holographic woman despite the admonishment of his girlfriend, Evi, who shows up and insists it is a scam.
What ensues is a thought-provoking discussion with ten other people from around the globe, deep-diving into critical issues about humanity, with an ending that no one could have seen coming.
“Undoubtedly a 5-star read.”

"Wow! I like this book. I was drawn in. I felt like I was a participant in the interview. So much of the discussion are things I have thought about and have discussed with friends."

It's a brutally cold day in Buffalo, New York, one of those days when folks are hunkered down inside their homes, but for 71-year-old John Ross, a warm house, safe from the screeching winds which assault the city from the north, there is no warmth. For those who even notice him, a homeless man, wearing tattered clothes, thin and gaunt, with a thick gray beard covering most of his face, he is referred to as the Buffalo Kid, just another vagrant, who lives under a bridge in a cardboard box. People assume the worst of course, but no one, except a local police officer knows the truth about who the Kid really is and why he has walked the streets, destitute and penniless for 31 years. Despite his poverty, the Buffalo Kid has never relinquished his dream that someday he would get a second chance at life, and that maybe, before he clocked out for good, a chance to see his children who disappeared from his life as newborns. Plying the barren and bitterly cold streets one day, he meets a stranger who hands him a fifty-dollar bill and walks off. The encounter leaves the Kid stunned. Determined to find out more about the man, he follows him, and what ensues changes everything. This is a story about undying hope and that everyone deserves a second chance in life.

The story is intriguing and the characters well developed. I really enjoyed it!! Andrea S.
Being a vivid fan of what Mr Laplaine, I can only say that he did it again. This time setting up claustrophobic environment where the outcome only can be one thing he holds you in his grip until the bitter end. Highly enjoyable & recommended! Jonas O.
Once you read this fast-paced novel that keeps you on the edge-of-your-seat, you will be addicted to Real LaPlaine's character, Keeno McCole. Tension and high stakes drama fill the pages of this crime thriller. Two words for everyone. Read it! William Beck author of Bryson McGann series
A vigilante group calling themselves the 9th Divinity, declares to the world that they will stop Vladimir Putin's invasion of Ukraine, dismantle Russia's nuclear arsenal and do the same with North Korea's Kim Jong Un. Global powers, particularly the U.S.A., panic as the declaration goes viral, seeing it as a provocation that could tip the scales toward nuclear war. Keeno McCole, and his Anti-Terrorism-Unit, a special unit of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, are called into play when it is discovered that the 9th Divinity is apparently operating from within Canada. The investigation takes Keeno and his crime-fighting partner, Jake Williams, along with the rest of the team, on a chase that leads them into the heart of the war zone in Ukraine, where Keeno witnesses the devastation and death-toll caused by Putin and his kill-squads. The 9th Divinity reveals to Keeno just how, using advanced drone technology and artificial intelligence - they intend to accomplish their claims to bring about peace. Keeno is faced with a new challenge; is the 9th Divinity the real enemy he should be chasing down and stopping? And if they can stop the madman, Putin, why is he trying to stop them? Principles vs loyalty – honor vs duty - a new war erupts inside him? These are the questions that plague him as he faces the carnage in Ukraine and the decision he makes will send him on a mission of epic proportions.
"5 stars!
Terrifyingly well written and so realistic!
From a master of suspense, an activist for human rights and against nuclear weapons, comes a disturbingly believable story of people who are ready to risk their lives—and AI is of a great help for it—to save the humankind from governing sociopaths and criminals. Though fiction, it is not. Ranked as a thriller, the book gives an impression of nowadays chronicles. Sweeping across the world – Canada, Russia, United States, North Korea, and South Korea, it’s a rollercoaster of danger and persistence of some people, as well as a self-sacrifice for the good cause at the time when the world is balancing on the edge of apocalypse. Some of Laplaine’s characters act the way millions of people would approve of.
Even more, it may make some readers do some soul searching. In the words of the author, “When that reality hits home, when it gets personal, when people realize that their pathetic apathy and pathetic complacency comes with a heavy price, that their children and grandchildren are going to irrevocably face an apocalyptic scene . . .” Isn’t it a timely appeal? I would highly recommend this book to everyone who thinks about the future."
Marina Osipova, author
5 stars
A complex thriller and as up to date as today's headlines
This is a remarkable exploration into the ‘what if’ of global power structures. Laplaine takes a deep dive into the complexities of the mind, and how it relates to the concept of totalitarian regimes. It’s a brutal examination of a possible future if the world doesn’t wake up to the dangers posed by the likes of North Korea and Russia.

The ABBA story you always wished for!
Finding Agnetha is an inspired story about a young boy who loved the group ABBA and wanted to see them play live again, despite the fact that everyone, the band included, said it would never happen. He sets out on a mission, running away from his troubled home in America, makes it to Sweden and searches out Agnetha Faltskog, the iconic blonde singer from the group. Chased by police in two countries, Morrie Norris does not relinquish his dream, and everyone he meets along the way, are charmed by a boy with a passion that cannot be quenched. And while ABBA has finally come out of retirement in recent times, this story, written at a time when the world said they would never re-emerge from retirement, will still touch your heart, sprinkling some of that ABBA magic and nostalgia over you and reminding you that dreams do come true.
"Written in a flurry of inspiration, after seeing the film Mamma Mia, Laplaine conjured a magical adventure in a tribute to the iconic Swedish band, ABBA, that sweeps you along in its cosmic flow, where real time (and disbelief) is suspended and events travel with the speed of light."
- Author, Barb Roman
"An absolute must for any ABBA fan, as beguiling as it is well-written, involving one fan's dogged determination to bring to fruition that which will never happen...An ABBA reunion."
"...Finding Agnetha was a simple read that brought a smile to my face and put goosebumps on my arms. A bit unrealistic yes, but this is a book with a message folks....dreams CAN come true.

“True love stories never have endings.”
When Cowboys Fall is a true love story.
Trent McCallister, a born and raised cowboy from Canada's west, vacationing in Cyprus in the hopes of finding reconciliation for his mid-life crisis, didn't expect to be knocked overboard from his skiff that day, but when it happened, he found himself floating in the middle of the Aegean Sea - struggling to survive, and it looked as if the boney of death was going to win; but Trent's life was about to take a surprising turn.
When Cowboys Fall is inspired by true events, a story that most anyone can relate to, about the roads we walk, sometimes the wrong ones, sometimes, seemingly, a road to nowhere, especially when that road ahead suddenly becomes shorter than the one we have travelled and time becomes our enemy. This is a story about rediscovery, realizing abandoned dreams and finding love - an inspiring story that reminds us it is never too late to change the road we are on or even to find true love.
The book is dedicated to the people of Palestine in the hopes that also inspires them to keep fighting for their rights to exist. ALL proceeds from sales of this book are donated to helping the people in war-torn Gaza.
A university student from Toronto, Canada, takes a short vacation to Calcutta, India, where a “friend” introduces him to a “special place”. Jared, unaware of what he is walking into, suddenly finds himself in a room with a twelve-year-old girl who calls herself Hann’Sha. Shocked that she expects to have sex with him, Jared flees the building but soon finds himself consumed with both guilt and a passion to help her. The story that ensues is inspired by true events, because it is the story of countless thousands of young children in India, and elsewhere, who are sold into sexual servitude by impoverished families, and who live a life as such until they either die or serve no further use. Jared makes it his mission to save Hann’Sha, but to do so he will have to face a corrupt law enforcement and worse, a criminal underworld, one that would kill him before letting her go. Can he do it or is he walking into certain death?
See Me Not was inspired by an eight-year-old girl living in the ditches of Calcutta. Her perseverance and will to survive is the reason behind this story – one intended to put the spotlight on a global issue - the human trafficking pipeline – a multi-billion-dollar global industry today.
"Written in elegant prose, it is not only about the ills of humanity, but also about hope and optimism...Overall, it is a good thriller..." Alex Markman, Author
“The only book that gripped my attention in years, thank you for sharing.”
“We (my company) are too sponsoring Christel House which is a World Wide organization for orphans to get schooling and high level education so they don’t end up on the street or being trafficked. I did this inspired by your book, so thank you for that and keep up the good work of getting word around.”
Six decades after her death, Marilyn Monroe, not only remains a Hollywood legend, a woman who broke the mold as a female icon of her time, but also a mystery because of the nature of her death. One of the most successful women of her time, suddenly ends up dead in her home, reportedly from an overdose. The investigators are quick to sign it off as "suicide" - but the oddities do not add up to that conclusion. Marilyn was an influential woman, a progressive, and she had the ear of the then President of the U.S.A. John F. Kennedy. There were people who saw her as a threat. This opens the door to another perspective; did this highly successful and vibrant woman actually take her own life at the age of 36, was she that depressed, or was she targeted?
The only person who can answer that question and reveal the truth is Marilyn, but she's dead - right?
In Dead but not Gone, without spoilers, a strange phenomenon sweeps over the cemetery where Marilyn was buried in 1962, and within minutes, the bizarre rattling can be heard coming from her coffin - and what emerges is not her boney remains, but in fact, Marilyn, just as beautiful as the day she was laid to rest. Utterly confused and disoriented, she stumbles her way through West Hollywood and finally meets someone who helps her.
Marilyn gets a 2nd chance at life, and she intends on telling the world what really happened on that fateful night - and that is about to send her on a rollercoaster ride.
Dead but not Gone is a bit of a romance, a good dose of humor, a bit of this and that - but one thing is for sure - it gives our legendary blonde the respect she is due and a chance to tell you, the reader, her story and not the one pawned off on the world by others.
"I loved the premise of this book, I found the pace good, I liked the story. I think my only drawback would be for a bit more detail, but overall, I really enjoyed the story and the possibility of "WHAT IF". No one really knows what did happen, I liked how the author gave some plausible possibilities, that could be true of what happened to her." Francis L.
“Finally, a book that gives a different look at Marilyn, and a happy ending that she rightly deserves!!!!!! The only reason I did not give it 5 stars was the science part of the book, it drugged on a little too long. But in all a Great Book!!!! Marilyn fans if only this was true.” DJ
READER RADAR ALERT! Real Laplaine is THE most unique author I've ever read and thoroughly enjoyed.....a true wizard of words! In his subtle way he opens your mind and gives the reader an alternative way to see things. Yankeelin
With just the perfect amount of technical and scientific information you dive into a compelling story of what ifs. Funny, with drama and a touch of a love story this book had it all. Thank you Réal for this wonderful opportunity to see life from beyond the grave. April B.
On the outside, Troy Evans is just an average guy, working as a graphic designer in Minneapolis, but pull back the curtain and we discover a man with a dual life. It all started at age of ten, when Troy fell from a tree while playing, hit his head and should have died, but he didn't. What did happen was a life-changing event, what is called an Out-of-Body or Near-Death-Experience. In the years that follow, Troy experiences repeated OOBs and soon discovers that he can control them. One day, while plying his new ability, Troy happens upon a secretive meeting in a hotel hundreds miles from his home, and is drawn to listen in. Shocked by what he hears, he reports the matter to Homeland Security as an imminent terrorist attack on the nation. Within days, his apartment is raided, and Troy finds himself locked away in a high-security facility for mentally impaired, labelled as delusional and dangerous to society. Despite his attempts to clear his name of these labels, and to implore people to look into his claims, no one listens, no one except the psychologist who is meeting with him in the hopes of addressing his delusional state of mind. Troy eventually manages to convince her that his story is true, and that those who have locked him up are the very people behind the imminent attack on the nation, one that will make 9/11 look like a walk in the park. She helps him to escape from the facility and together, they run, attempting to contact the authorities who will listen, but at every turn, those behind the plot are on their trail, and the window is closing, just days ahead, when the attack happens. A high-concept thriller.

Mateus Cordozo has just returned to his hometown of Afife, Portugal, a short vacation where he hopes to reconcile his midlife crisis, what he sees as his failure as a man - far from his "normal" life as a bioengineer back in Sweden. With two bottles of wine, cheese and freshly baked bread, he finds a secluded spot on a blustery beach where he is certain that no one will interrupt his soul-searching. His solitude is interrupted when a beautiful woman, almost too perfect, appears and asks to sit with him. Mateus is beside himself, because women rarely ever show any interest in him. Their conversation soon hits a brick wall when she announces her true purpose in seeking him out, which sends Cordozo into a mental spin, adamantly rejecting her claims as ridiculous and outlandish, at which he promptly ends their conversation. He tries to forget the bizarre dialogue, but everywhere he goes, people and the media, are talking about nothing else. His inner demons strike back, compelling him to take the "safe road", the story of his life, and the very reason he now finds himself in Afife and standing on the precipice. Should he take the leap of faith? Should he believe the stranger? Or should he take the "safe bet" and just crawl back into his shell? As the zero-hour nears, he must act before it is too late - but will he?
"… a high concept thriller that is comparable with the best of Dan Brown or Jack Higgins."

Mia Chen, head of the LISEA project, short for Life Search, a unit in NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory facility in Pasadena, California, charged with investigating any source or signs of life in the distant stars, is notified that someone is waiting to see her in the lobby. The man she meets towers above her small Asian form. Moreover, his silver dreads, incredibly dark skin and penetrating gaze sets him apart from anyone else in the lobby. He introduces himself and says he has been looking forward to meeting her, and when she inquires why, he informs her that he has come from another planet seeking refuge on Earth, and what better person to assist him in his mission than the very person in charge of proving his existence. What unfolds in this high-concept thriller, is a believable, and unbelievable scenario, as the strange visitor reveals the truth behind why he fled from his home world, and what his purpose is for coming to Earth, and why she must help him before other authorities discover his presence; but that is easier said than done, and of course, when his presence is detected, all hell breaks loose.
When Gods Roar is not only a speculative fiction thriller, it also deep-dives into the paradigm of our culture, into what lies behind the curtain of humanity's propensity for war and violence, moreover, the stranger promises to reveal existential secrets about the Universe and Creation - but only on two conditions and those conditions become the pivot point between global war or lasting peace on Earth.
“When Gods Roar: the Awakening is a thought-provoking read, which is exceedingly well written. Never in my life has a book been more appropriate to 2025, not even George Orwell’s books." - Author, John Broughton
"It is a deeply philosophical tale which delves into some of our most carefully guarded shibboleths. This story raises issue with the impact of religions on our planet, and its peoples. It raises issue with the concentration of wealth, power, and military power specifically, in the hands of a few sociopathic individuals. It raises issue with the secretive manner in which governments treat the issue of alien visitations. And it offers a realistic view of what the tenets of a new culture of peace and prosperity might entail. In all my 83 years I have never read any book, including the Christian and Judaic versions of the Bible, which offers so much depth in the guise of a novel. Does the philosophy, does the criticism, does the suggested manner of dealing with our current situation have flaws. I will leave that to you... Nothing is falsified, nothing is set forth in concrete. It offers much to anyone. It is most certainly due an award of five stars, and if there were a higher award it would merit that too. Well done Real Laplaine. I hope to see a sequel." - Berk Rourke, author
Existential Thrillers
In 2015, NASA's Kepler space observatory identified a planet, dubbed Kepler-452b, as having similar qualities to Earth - that is, potentially habitable. The downside, of course, was that it was 1400 light years from us.
It would take another 14 years before science cracked the code, faster-than-light quantum propulsion, making it possible to cover such distances in a matter of years, not tens of centuries. However, mankind's propensity for war has also, by this time, pushed the world to the edge, where geopolitical powers are facing off in what will inevitably be the war to end all wars - all things.
Jim Tale, the last man you'd ever expect to be commanding the largest ever space vehicle, the Evolution, wakes up years into the journey in preparation for their arrival at K-452b or "New Earth" and with the help of the ship's Ai, CASS, prepares for landing on a planet that could become home to humanity, assuming humanity has not blown itself up into space dust in the meantime.
What they encounter, no one could ever have predicted. The best minds of Earth's combined space agencies never saw this coming, and to that end, neither did Jim Tale.
The journey that ensues is truly a modern-day space odyssey, taking Jim and his crew, with the help of CASS, deep into the Universe, and for Jim, a truth-seeker, someone who joined NASA to hopefully find the answers to existence and Creation, an unbelievable encounter.
Herb Baker, a 40+ year veteran of NASA, who has interacted with many astronauts in his time, had this to say in his foreword to Earth Escape...
"I’ve been lucky enough to meet and become friends with many American astronauts over that time and following along with this book’s brave, irreverent, plain-spoken astronaut Jim Tale reminded me of some of those real-life American heroes. No matter how dangerous and life-threatening their mission was, or how many unexpected complications they faced along the way, they were committed to completing their mission and always believed that the rewards were worth the risks."
- Herb Baker
"A fast-paced science-fiction novel that intertwines elements of suspense, romance, while tackling some of life's biggest questions…”

If the author 's name is "Real", then I am missing part of the quality of this author. The depth of his mind builds as he constructs the story. His creation of the final chapters and in depth philosophical presentation are impossible to describe, only reading it is meaningful. My words sounds like some type of hippie, but it is impossible to describe. I have read thousands of books and never taken to writing as I done hear. Can't wait for sequel.

Three back-to-back events happened within weeks of each other. The first was the launch of the Jupiter Mission. The second event happened within days of that when the North Korean leader decided to fire several nuclear warheads at the U.S.A. - resulting in a retaliatory strike that pushed the world to the edge of global nuclear war. While global leaders were trying to navigate the waters of a world on the brink of an apocalyptic war, a meteor veered from its course and smashed into the Siberian icecaps, filling Earth's atmosphere with dirt and ice particles, a layer so thick that it blocked the sun's rays and caused a global crash in food production and resultant starvation. It also released microbes, a virus buried for millions of years deep in that icecap, one which attacked the male physiology and not women's, killing off men by the millions, every day.
As the world reeled from this last event, and men were quickly heading towards becoming an endangered species, women were forced to pick up the pieces, and over the years, a formerly patriarchal society had morphed into one entirely dominated by women, where men, those relative few who survived the virus, were relegated to a sub-order, as workers doing menial jobs, outlawed from holding any positions of power ever again as they were seen as the toxic reason that humanity was nearly pushed to the edge of extinction.
16 years after lifting off from Cape Kennedy, the Jupiter Mission, headed by Tanner McNeal, returns and find themselves in a dystopia, where he and his men are placed in worker camps, denied their rights, and forced to succumb to the new order. Facing impossible odds, with so few men to fight with him, Tanner must figure out how to restore balance. Moreover, he has no idea that the President of New America, a brutal dictator known as Lady X, is about to unleash her ultimate weapon, one that will make men entirely redundant and will ensure her dominance - Woman EX.

V.O.I.C.E. is the sequel to Woman Ex, a story inspired by the global #metoo movement – where women were speaking up about the abuses and injustices they endured at the hands of a patriarchal culture.
Woman Ex shifts the tables and depicts a world where women, in the wake of two disastrous global debacles, are forced to pick up the pieces of a broken world, and where men, expiring by the millions from a lethal virus released by a meteorite striking the ice caps of Siberia, are becoming an endangered species.
V.O.I.C.E. picks up years later, in the wake of a revolution which has restored balance to the world, and a period where space exploration is once again prioritized and the first research outposts have been established on Mars. One of those outposts, the Mars One Base, discovers an alien artifact hidden deep in a ravine, and what ensues is a thrilling and nail-biting ride, sparking a global event as one of the astronauts, Jacob Dekker, makes First Contact - which starts a domino-effect back on Earth, one that challenges ALL the paradigms about our existence.
"I don’t often read science fiction novels. I enjoyed this new release by Real Laplaine, a sequel to Woman Ex. It is well written. To my untutored mind, the science aspect is rendered in a believable manner. The story centers on a young specialist and his partner on a mission on Mars which goes badly wrong, seemingly placing the life of his partner at risk. This leads to a mysterious message from space. I don’t want to offer any other details as those would include spoilers. I just found it refreshing to read a story that offers an element of hope, something we need badly these days."

"I thoroughly enjoyed reading V.O.I.C.E. by Real Laplaine. I don't usually read books of this genre but found it interesting and entertaining. The concept that there might be an intelligent life form in some far away galaxy attempting to connect with Planet Earth is food for thought. The prose is well written and the book held my attention from the beginning to the end. I award the book a deserving 5 stars and am looking forward to reading more of Real's books." - Irene Edwards
Imagine you are having visions of places you have never been to, visions so real and so compelling, that each night you wake up in a cold sweat, certain that you have been there, experienced it, and yet, you “know” it cannot be possible.18 year-old Kaetlyn O'Sullivan, living in a small village on the southwest tip of Ireland, is having those visions, bordering on nightmares, about places and things she has never experienced in her life. It is as if some part of her, buried deep in her subconscious, is trying to escape. She goes to a psychologist who eventually resorts to regressive therapy, and what is revealed is not only shocking to both of them, but it also changes Kaetlyn's life, casting her into the global arena as geopolitical powers vie to monopolize what she knows and what she can do. Kaetlyn is not only faced with the shocking reality that her past life has just become her present life, but with it comes the realization that she had a mission to accomplish before she died, and now, that mission is more relevant and more critical to the survival of the human race than ever.
The Other is followed by its sequel: L.I.N. - More human than Ai
"What an extraordinary book! It blends my favorite concepts such as history, psychology, past life, and spirituality, plus loads of twists and turns that made me unable to put it down until finished. I felt as if I was reading the script of a future motion picture, one of the magnitude of movies such as "Interstellar" or "First Contact"."

The Other is an amazing and exciting story!
I refuse to ruin anyone else's appreciation of this terrific story by telling too much. Instead, I will limit myself to sharing my thrills and love of the story, the realistic characters, and the excitement knowing the story isn't over."

"Réal Laplaine has written a true masterpiece that is hard to put aside, even when you HAVE to sleep. The story unfolds in separate, but entangled lines of events. Real has mastered tempo and “shifting” of the entangled stories so that you as the reader are hooked to the story, as if you were there. I highly recommend the book for everyone of a broad mind that likes the unknown, intermingled with geopolitics, past-life and with a touch of an alien interception with a positive and do-good agenda. Cannot wait until the follow-up is here!"

The thrilling sequel to The Other, L.I.N. an acronym for Living Intelligent Network, the Ai computer system aboard the alien craft discovered in Book 1, follows 19-year-old Kaetlyn O'Sullivan's harrowing adventure as she wakes up from a coma after having been shot in the head by a fanatic. During her comatose state, she penetrates deeper into her past life and discovers she was actually on the alien craft that crashed into the coast of Southern Ireland, not far from the small town where she later grew up, and what her purpose was for coming to Earth at the time. With global powers now going head-to-head to leverage control over Kaetlyn and the craft, the real issue mounts as global warming suddenly unleashes climatic disaster, and the craft, its Ai computer - L.I.N. and Kaetlyn are the only answer to reversing a global meltdown that threatens humanity. A brutally vivid rendering about the future facing us if we do not act now - and a story about one young woman's determination to stop it from happening despite everything, and everyone with other agendas.
"The sequel to The Other, L.I.N. (acronym for Live-Intelligent-Network) is as grabbing and highly suspenseful as its predecessor in the series. The engaging narrative and non-stop action held my interest from start to finish. The plot revolves around an intriguing subject: people must find a solution to how to save their home, the planet Earth. But are they ready to sacrifice their every-day life’s comfort and criminal carelessness to achieve it? It’s evident the author has in-depth knowledge of the subject and how dear to his heart it is. Laplaine is doing great work by presenting non-fiction in the literary form of fiction, which significantly broadens the scope of his readership. The ending will leave you in awe. I didn’t see it coming. L.I.N. is also a story that evokes hope, so needed in this challenging time of total confusion and treacherous uncertainty. In the words of a character: “… because here on Earth, right and wrong are a matter of viewpoint, depending on who it serves.” And on the resilience of the human spirit, I would add. Listen to the author’s appeal, an important and timely warning. I would highly recommend this book to the young and adults."

"This novel reads more like actuality than fiction. It tackles an issue so very real to the present day, with both the humanity's concern and disregard for our well-being. I was enthralled reading the prequel and bit my nails until this follow-up was released." A. Mogan, author of The Secret Journals of Adolf Hitler
