A message from space...or is it?

Writer: Réal LaplaineRéal Laplaine

V.O.I.C.E. - The Silence is Over!

23-year-old Jacob Dekker and his partner and secret lover, 21-year-old Jess Andersson, two of the youngest astronauts to ever man the first Mars base, discover an alien artifact hidden beneath its surface. Jess is exposed to something that puts her life at risk, sending Jacob into a flurry of action to save her. Meanwhile, Jacob receives a mysterious message from deep space - not from Earth, but from somewhere else. Jacob finds himself suddenly cast into a bizarre and unbelievable arena; on the one hand, the love of his life is fighting to survive; on the other, he has this bizarre message and whoever is behind that to contend with; and lastly, as word leaks about the alien artifact, it catalyzes another series of events as geopolitical powers try to monopolize whatever technology it contains, all of which threatens the already fragile global state of affairs. A high-concept thriller full of twists and turns, V.O.I.C.E. not only opens up the forum to the question, "Are we alone in the Universe?", it deep-dives into the sociological paradigm of our society, challenging the reader to rethink our place in the Universe.

"Compelling science fiction novel with eerie echoes of our current times!

I don’t often read science fiction novels. I enjoyed this new release by Real Laplaine, a sequel to Woman Ex. It is well written. To my untutored mind, the science aspect is rendered in a believable manner. The story centers on a young specialist and his partner on a mission on Mars which goes badly wrong, seemingly placing the life of his partner at risk. This leads to a mysterious message from space. I don’t want to offer any other details as those would include spoilers. I just found it refreshing to read a story that offers an element of hope, something we need badly these days." – Malve von Hassell, author
